Stride Gaming was not the best known name in online bingo, but it was in fact one of the biggest. This company grew to become the third largest online bingo operator in the UK, at one point responsible for around 25% of the total online bingo market. It was also big enough to earn a listing on the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM), where it was valued at close to £170 million.
This below-the-radar growth came from its focus on bingo. While many competitors shifted towards the more lucrative casino market, Stride Gaming remained committed to its bingo strategy, an area where its experience was exceptional. That said, the company did diversify into casino products, adding brands such as Magical Vegas and King Jack Casino alongside its well-known bingo titles.
With well over a hundred brands in its portfolio, Stride’s most famous included Kitty Bingo, Lucky Pants Bingo, Moon Bingo and Robin Hood Bingo. Its operational headquarters were in north London, with further offices in Israel and South Africa. The business was registered in Jersey, while its gaming licences were issued from Alderney, ensuring regulation by the UK Gambling Commission for British players. Stride also licensed its proprietary software platform to partners, allowing white-label bingo and casino sites to launch under its technology.
The company was founded in 2012 and achieved its AIM listing in 2015, but its management team had been active in online bingo since 2002. They were the original brains behind GlobalCom Limited, later sold into the Dragonfish group. They also launched Foxy Bingo and Wink Bingo, which were sold to 888 Holdings for close to £100 million.
Stride Gaming expanded both organically and by acquisition, most notably in 2017 when it took over 8Ball Games, the operator of sites such as Lippy Bingo, Love Your Bingo, Tidy Bingo and Slots of Glory.
The turning point came in 2019, when Rank Group acquired Stride Gaming for approximately £115 million. Stride’s shares were delisted from AIM, and its brands and operations were absorbed into Rank’s digital division. According to Companies House records, Stride Gaming’s UK establishment was formally closed in April 2021. Today, the Stride name survives only as part of Rank’s corporate structure, but its legacy remains important in the history of UK online bingo.
