Nektan (Gibraltar) Limited

Content Fact Checked: September 29, 2025

Nektan (Gibraltar Limited) was once a well-known business-to-business (B2B) supplier of bingo and casino software. The company built its reputation as one of the earliest mobile-first casino platform providers, optimising its technology for play on phones and tablets at a time when most competitors were still focused on desktop. This gave Nektan a strong position in the market through the 2010s.

History and Growth

Nektan was founded in 2008 in Gibraltar and opened a London office in 2013. That same year it acquired the mobile technology firm Mfuse Limited, which was later rebranded into Nektan’s core gaming platform. In May 2014 the company launched its first white label casino, beginning a period of rapid growth.

Over the following years, dozens of casino sites were powered by Nektan’s platform. The company provided full back-office services including website design, account management, payment processing, customer support, and fraud prevention. This made it a complete “one-stop shop” for new casino operators wanting to enter the regulated UK market.

Games and Partnerships

Nektan signed distribution deals with leading game developers such as NetEnt, Microgaming, NextGen Gaming, IGT and Lightning Box. These agreements meant that Nektan casinos could offer players a wide range of slots, table games and instant win titles, from the latest releases to classic fruit machine favourites.

Sale to Grace Media

In January 2020, after financial difficulties, administrators sold Nektan’s UK B2C business (its consumer-facing casinos) to Grace Media, part of the Active Win Group, for around £200,000. (iGaming Business)

As part of the deal, Nektan entered into a B2B agreement with Grace Media so it would continue to receive royalties from its former white label network. Grace Media took control of the UK sites, while the international operations were restructured under a new B2B brand called Markor Technology.

Regulatory Issues

In April 2021 the UK Gambling Commission suspended Nektan’s remote B2C licences under Section 116, citing concerns over compliance. (SBC News) This effectively ended Nektan’s direct consumer presence in the UK, leaving Grace Media as the operator of its former brands.

Nektan Today

Today, Nektan no longer operates casinos directly. Its technology and partnerships live on through Grace Media in the UK and Markor Technology internationally. For players, this means that many sites once known as “Nektan casinos” are now run under the Grace Media licence, but still use a version of the platform originally developed by Nektan.
