NeoGames

The majority of the software companies reviewed in this section tend to focus on the lucrative online slots market. And to keep the traditionalists onside, they may also design a few table game formats too. NeoGames are a refreshing change in this respect. This is because this outfit’s speciality is scratch cards. Other instant games and Lottery style games are also a strength, and the company’s international reputation is built upon this side of the gaming business, rather than the more conventional approach of slots and table games.

These are often regarded as the Cinderella of online gaming – many casinos do not even carry scratch cards as an option. But they remain very popular, and their relative simplicity means that they can be played on even the most basic devices. The graphics required to run a standard scratcher are basic to say the least – in fact you probably don’t even need a smartphone to play these games online. I haven’t got an old Nokia to test this out, but in theory…

Nevertheless, the company takes no risks in this respect. Its own scratch card designs are created with the latest HTML5 technology and can be played on any device you choose. In fact, NeoGames were one of the first companies to recognise the potential of mobile gaming. They first started optimising their designs for on the go play as far back as 2009.

The company boasts that it offers “the largest, most diverse scratch card portfolio in the world”. While this may well be a bit of PR Department hyperbole, there is no doubt that they are one of the biggest scratch card designers around.

NeoGames does offer a few slots designs, although these tend to be focused on the “soft” market, like Lottery and Instant Game sites, rather than standard casinos.

Nevertheless, many of the most popular casinos carry NeoGames’ scratch card designs as the go to option for their instant game players. You can find them on big name sites like Bet 365, Barbados Casino and Peters Casino for example.

The company was originally founded in 2005, and is now one of those international conglomerates which make it difficult to tie down where, if anywhere in particular, they are based. NeoGames has a register address in Tel Aviv, Israel, but a business correspondence address in Sliema on the Mediterranean island of Malta. It also has a an official address for general issues in Luxembourg.

For United Kingdom based players, perhaps the most important information is that the company is licenced with the Malta Gaming Authority. This means that it is regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and is therefore a legitimate business for the UK market.
