Roxy Media is the name behind a pair of well-regarded bingo sites powered by Dragonfish software. Bingo Hollywood was launched back in 2010 as the original member of a new network. Well, it took quite a while for this network to get off the ground, because it was not until February 2017 that it finally became more than a network of one. This was when the new Big Tease Bingo joined it to make a network of two! I call that a pair, not a network, but I guess that’s marketing spin for you!
Bingo fans will hope that the rate of network launches is accelerated, because the two sites Roxy Media operate at present do show some promise. They certainly are not constructed from the standard issue Dragonfish template, with both looking very distinctive and not at all the feared “cut and paste” format of some such sites we could mention.
Bingo Hollywood can now fairly be described as a veteran of the industry, and has built up a loyal following and a decent reputation. It does look a little dated now, but there is nothing wrong with the bingo and like Hollywood itself, a bit of tradition can be a good thing (it’s still 20th Century Fox after all…). Overall, this is a classy site which deserves its venerable status.
Big Tease Bingo by contrast, is a brazen new sister on the block. It’s contemporary look with big and bold comic book style graphics stand in clear contrast with its more staid and traditional older sibling. You can almost imagine the grown up sister looking down on this upstart extrovert with a maternal and knowing eye as its brash new sibling grabs all the attention.
It is good though. The comic book style is enhanced by just a tinge of the traditional saucy holiday postcard. This is certainly an effective theme: the action and excitement of comics married to the more British tradition of the seaside jolly suits bingo well. The “Big Tease” title also brings nostalgic memories of the old end of the pier variety shows: risqué jokes, double entendres galore, but nothing to frighten your grandmother.
So let’s hope for the best and presume there are more site launches in the pipeline. If the new arrivals are as innovative and independent as the current pair, this network could be worth keeping an eye on.
